Vice Chairman of the Bronx County Conservative Party & (C) District Leader for the 79th Assembly District
Author: Gonzalo Duran
I am a former United States Marine Sergeant, currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer of Devil Dog USA Incorporated. I also hold the positions of Vice Chairman of the Bronx County Conservative Party and (C) District Leader of the 79th Assembly District in the Bronx. Over the past decade as CEO, I've been involved in various community roles, including serving as an access producer, cable talk show host, published columnist for numerous periodicals and newsletters, chaplain, advocate, and political leader in Bronx County.
Today is a great day to reflect and plan for the future. I pray that you and your family receive an abundance of good fortunate and have a prosperous 2023.
Please be cautious when traveling home tomorrow morning. If you have to drink, be modest and don’t be afraid to ask for a ride home.
If there’s is anything I can do for you in 2023, let me know. See you next year!
While on a work site project. I took the time to inform local community members of the Burn Pits and to Edson Arzu the CEO of Garifuna Veterans of America. Many of them, never herd of the Burn Pits controversy.
The former President of the Bronx Chamber of Commerce Lenny Caro was kind of enough to talk to me regarding many of our programs. I took the chance to speak to him about the Burn Pits as well.
Senator Gustavo Rivera was nice enough to stop by one of our events. I was happy and eager to speak to him about the Burn Pits and the advocacy efforts we were making.
For over 10 years, I have been fighting the controversies of the burn pits. When the PACT Act was passed, I was excited just like all the other Veterans and their families. Then I notice the downfalls of it.
My position as Executive Officer for Devil Dog USA Incorporated allows me to speak to many Veterans across the country. Some of the issues facing us are as follows:
1. The Town Hall meetings are just rhetoric in nature. Just a place for submitting claims. 2. The conditions for the interviews are less than amiable. 3. The claim and interview process seemed to be rushed.
With the track record of the VA and the monumental action taken by congress, we need to stand together and be heard. We will hold them accountable and we want this done the right way.
With the new year ahead of us, myself, Devil Dog USA Inc. and Has Heart will be working together to bring more awareness to these issues.
Patricia works at a middle school in the Bronx. She loves baking. It’s her passion. Her grandmother was a baker and that’s where she credits her skills. People tell me “my flan is one of the best they’ve tried”, she states. This brings joy into her heart, to know people enjoy her products. Returning customers just can’t get enough.
I myself, just had Patricia’s flan this past weekend for my weekly catch-up with my mother and subsequently Christmas Dinner. It wasn’t too sweet, it had a great firm feel but a delicious and creamy filling. I can’t wait to have it again soon.
Let us remember that this Christmas many families are still struggling to recover from the restrictions of the Pandemic. We must do our best to show them that their community is here for them.
As I worked with my fellow Chaplains this winter there are many families requesting gifts, winter coats, food and a little cheerful joy. We did our best, I did my best, but the demand is still very high.
Give thanks for what you have and if you are able to give, please contact me. If you are in need, the same applies, we are here to serve. And remember you are loved and someone is always praying for you.
