Joint Statement: A Cross Endorsement for a Better New York City

NYC Public Advocate Cross Endorsement

In an unprecedented show of mutual respect, Marty Dolan—candidate for Public Advocate running under the Unity Party—and I, Gonzalo Duran, running under the newly established United Alliance Party, are issuing a cross endorsement in this year’s election for Public Advocate of New York City.

Over the course of this campaign, Marty Dolan and I have crossed paths on several occasions, most recently sharing a stage at a fundraising event in support of a mutual colleague. Through these interactions, a respectful dialogue emerged—one rooted not in political strategy, but in a shared commitment to the future of this great city.

While we each bring distinct visions, approaches, and party affiliations to this race, we are united in one clear belief: the people of New York deserve leadership that puts them first—and unfortunately, the current Public Advocate, Jumaane Williams, has not delivered on that promise.

This statement is not simply about opposing an incumbent—it is about offering the people of New York a real choice. Whether you cast your vote for Marty Dolan or for me, we urge you to vote for progress, for integrity, and against more of the same.

This cross-endorsement is rare, yes—but these are uncommon times. And when the stakes are this high, leadership means putting purpose above politics.

Together, even in our differences, we stand for something greater: a New York City that works for everyone.

Sincerely,

Gonzalo Duran
Candidate for NYC Public Advocate
