There is a lithium battery plant quietly being constructed near the corner of Boston Road and De Lavall Avenue—right in the heart of a residential and commercial neighborhood. What’s more alarming? It’s being built with little to no transparency, no engagement with local residents, and no consultation with community organizations.
This isn’t just a one-off occurrence. It’s part of a growing and deeply troubling trend happening across New York City—where industrial facilities with significant safety risks are being placed dangerously close to where our families live, work, and go to school. We cannot and will not allow this to continue.
I’ve proudly joined Curtis Sliwa, candidate for Mayor of New York City, to stand against these reckless developments. Together, with a coalition of community leaders and concerned citizens, we’re saying loud and clear: Our communities are not dumping grounds. We demand a voice. We demand safety.
These lithium battery facilities are not harmless. If a fire breaks out, it can rage for days—releasing toxic fumes and creating an inferno that fire departments are often unable to extinguish. The environmental risks are high. The public health risks are higher. And the disregard for our neighborhoods is unacceptable.
We recognize the need for clean energy and innovation—but not at the expense of community safety. There must be proper planning, transparency, and safeguards. Anything less is a betrayal of public trust.
That’s why we’re organizing. That’s why we’re rising. That’s why we’re calling on you to stand with us.
